PHOTOS: Abdi Hashi re-elected as senator in landslide win

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Veteran politician and outgoing senate speaker Abdi Hashi has retained his seat as senator following his re-election in the ongoing elections for Somaliland.

Hashi garnered 44 seats to beat his only opponent Said Omar Hussein who got no vote. Two votes were spoiled. Hashi now makes a comeback to the Senate for the second time. He was first elected to the senate in 2016 and was subsequently picked as its speaker.

Voting continues for the remaining five seats for today. UN head in Somalia James Swan and his AMISOM counterpart Francisco Madeira are in attendance.
