GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU:The Somali delegation that led the legal team in the maritime dispute between Somalia and Kenya at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has arrived in the country today.

The delegation, led by the Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Guled landed at Aden Adde International Airport, Mogadishu and received ministers, lawmakers, politicians and federal government officials following their arrival from the Hague.

The team was congratulated for their contribution in the fight for the country’s maritime space in the Indian Ocean waters against Kenya.

The team later headed to Villa Somalia where they were received by outgoing President Mohamed Farmaajo.

The (ICJ) on October 12, ruled in favor of Kenya in a maritime dispute between Somalia and Kenya. In a judgement highly welcomed in Somalia, the opposite was true for Kenya, as Nairobi distanced itself from the World Court judgement saying it ‘rejects in totality and does not recognize’ Somalia border ruling.
