GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Prime Minister Mohamed Roble has said the conflict between Ahlu Sunna and the Galmudug state forces was “unfortunate” noting the state government had the sole responsibility of maintaining security.

The PM’s remarks followed renewed fighting which saw Ahlu Sunna capture the towns of Guri El and Mataban in the Galgadud and Hiran regions, as well as several villages on Friday.

Roble stamped his support for the Galmudug state saying noting it had legitimate authority over the state and is responsible for its security and that any violent conflicts should be avoided at all costs.

“The Galmudug leadership has a responsibility to maintain peace, order and unity among the people of Galmudug, and to resolve conflicts and other non-violent conflicts as soon as possible”, read part of the statement.

He further called on anyone with concerns to seek amicable ways of resolving any dispute warning that armed mobilization and targeted attacks must be stopped as it threatens stability and order in Galmudug.

The Premier also extended his condolences to the victims of Friday’s attacks and prayed for a speedy recovery to those injured.

Roble also called on the Galmudug administration and its people to unite against Al-Shabaab and any other anti-peace elements threatening to destabilise governance and development of Galmudug state.
