GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has weighed in on the ongoing controversy about the sacking of NISA boss Fahad Yasin noting Prime Minister Mohamed Roble acted in the best interest of the public.

The former head of state said the Prime Minister was responsible for security organs and could therefore make changes in line with his authority.

“The Prime Minister is responsible for all executive institutions in the country, including the security forces. The existence of intractable security agencies opens the door to instability and the formation of illegal armed groups which could plunge the country into anarchy,” Mohamud said.

Mohamud who is also the UPD party leader called on his successor Mohamed Farmaajo to ‘refrain from obstructing the efforts of the Prime Minister, as he has handed over the reins of power to the Somali parliament and people after his term expired.’

The remarks add to growing voices for Farmaajo to keep off the management of the intelligence agency. Earlier, the Council of Presidential Candidates (CPC), Jubbaland government and the Hawiye council of elders issued separate statements backing the Prime Minister.
