PM Roble meets Somali, AMISOM police chiefs in build up to L.House polls

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Prime Minister, Mohamed Hussein Roble today held talks with the Somali Police Commissioner, Abdi Hijar, AMISOM Police Commissioner and the Chairman of the Somaliland elections team.

The agenda of the meeting was to discuss the facilitation and security of the Upper House elections in the Northern regions of Somaliland which are expected to run from Sept. 28 to 30th Sept.

Roble directed the Chairman of the Somaliland Electoral Commission to expedite the elections of the Upper House according to the electoral timelines.

The Prime Minister also urged the Somali Police Commissioner and AMISOM Police Command on the need to uphold tight security during the Upper House elections in Somaliland and called on both parties to work hand-in-hand to ensure the security of the elections.

Registration of candidates for the Upper House in Somaliland ended yesterday with candidates’ speeches scheduled to begin tomorrow, thereafter, followed by elections.
