PM Roble meets with UN head James Swan amid poll delay concerns

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble met with the United Nations Special Representative for Somalia James Swan in his office.

A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said Roble and James Swan discussed the country’s electoral process and the technical and financial support of the international community.

Prime Minister Roble and the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Somalia agreed on the importance of expediting the electoral process, especially the parliamentary elections.

The international community has recently called on the heads of the federal government and regional administrations to expedite the country’s elections, amid concerns about delays in the elections, and called for the elections to be completed before the end of 2021.
