PM Roble restates focus to fair poll, says not running for president

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: PrimeMinister Mohamed Roble has reiterated his commitment to free and fair elections adding that he will not be contesting for president.

Roble told a meeting in Daynile Friday his administration was focused on delivering on the election task in line with the May 27 Agreement.

“As the Prime Minister, I promise you in front of me today that I will conduct this election in a fair, transparent and God-fearing manner,” the PM said.

He added that he was not a candidate in the race for president. “Let me make it clear that I will not be running for president in the upcoming election. All candidates are equal and my priority is realise a free and transparent election.”

The PM also urged the residents of Mogadishu to actively take part in the process noting ‘people of Mogadishu are in fact the center of the country. They are the ones who have the biggest responsibility in the country’.
