GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Hussein, has held a virtual  meeting with the Somali government delegation that represented the country on the maritime case in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) at The Hague.  The Prime Minister commended the delegation for their outstanding contribution at the ICJ resulting in a victorious win for the Federal State.  Roble also extended a congratulatory note to all the legal experts who participated in seeking justice for the country, previous Somali leaders who in one way or the other ensured that the maritime issue saw the light of day and all the Somali People.  The FGS Prime Minister had earlier promised the team that they would cheer them up and that they should also count on the country’s undying support in their quest for justice at The Hague. And jointly with his Cabinet and other officials, watched the ruling live in an open gathering.  Mohamed Hussein Roble welcomed the ICJ’s decision which overwhelmingly ruled in favour of Somalia. The court established a new maritime boundary between the two countries, and according to the new line, most of the territorial claims claimed by Kenya were rejected and ruled in favor of Somalia.  Nairobi has outrightly rejected the ruling with Kenyatta categorically saying the judgement would “strain the relations between the two countries”.
