A political activist in Adado, Galmudug state has called for a peaceful settlement on the differences between Galmudug, Puntland and Ahlu Sunna.

Mohamed Gure Guleed stressed the need for urgent negotiation and compromise between Galmudug State and Ahlu Sunna –a paramilitary religious militia that controls parts of Galgudug region.

Guleed told Goobjoog News the first priority for Galmudug state now is to initiate peace talks with all parts in the region  “There is a lot of work waiting to be done by Galmudug State but before anything else we need to create an atmosphere of confidence that everyone can be willing to be part of,” said Guleed.

Guleed, who was flanged by other politicians in the town called on Puntland and Ahlu Sunna not to take Galmudug as a threat against their interests.

“Galmudug should not be seen as threat against you but as a brother who is going to defend your interests,” he added.

The newly formed State of Galmudug faces challenges from both Ahlu Sunna armed militia and Puntland which has refused to recognise it as a state over boundary disputes.
