President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has pledged a $100,000 prize for anyone with information on those involved in Sunday’s car bomb attack that has so far claimed over thirty lives and wounded more than 50.

Speaking during a visit to Medina and Digfer hospitals last night to see the victims of the bomb attack, the president said his administration will give the sum to anyone with information on the attackers in line with his pre-election pledge.

The president also announced the government will clear all the hospital bills and further airlift other patients for special treatment abroad.

Terming the attack as cruel and barbaric, the president pledged to ensure all perpetrators of the heinous act are brought to book.

Meanwhile the National Intelligence Service Agency NISA has also pledged another $10,000 for information on those behind yesterday’s attack. NISA chief Abdullahi Mohamud Gafow said his agency will provide the amounts as it carries out investigations into the attack.

President Farmaajo announced this week he will craft a strategy to ensure the militant group Al-Shabaab is annihilated in Somalia noting a closer collaboration with troops contributing countries to Amisom is critical in achieving the goal. The president was speaking during a meeting with Amisom leadership and envoys from troops contributing countries Saturday.

The attack came hours after Al-Shabaab denounced President Farmaajo and his administration vowing to launch further attacks. Al-Shabaab has however not publicly claimed responsibility for the attack.
