President Farmaajo appoints assessment committee for inmates at central prison

Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has pointed committee to assess the situation of the inmates at the central jail in Mogadishu.

In press statement, president Farmaajo said the committee is assigned to enroll the number of inmates who were sentenced by a court and the remandees in central jail.

The statement calls the committee to state the cases of all prisoners – Men, women and children.

Late February this year, president Farmaajo who visited central Jail president, had pledged that his government will make sure inmates to their rights and the custodial corps to get their salaries regularly.

The president also promised that his government will building more jails which significantly reduce current overcrowding in Mogadishu’s jails.
