President Mohamud lauds MPs for approving the new Somali Prime Minister

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has congratulated the House of Representatives for approving the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre on June 15th.

“I thank the honorable lawmakers of Somalia for endorsing our new PM H.E Hamza Abdi Barre today. Our government has an ambitious policy program which seeks to improve our security, strengthen our economy and deliver basic services for our people. Let us move forward together”, said the President. 

The President also urged his premier to form a government that will among other things, work to strengthen security, look into the food security situation, reconciliation, and improve diplomatic relations with the world. 

Hamze Barre, who was appointed by President Mohamud just six days after he was sworn into office, was unanimously approved as the next Somali prime minister by 220 members of the Somali Parliament, taking over from outgoing  Prime Minister, Mohamed Hussein Roble.
