President Farmaajo sends goodwill message to Muslims on start of Ramadan

Somali president, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has sent goodwill message to Somali people as well as Muslims around the world at the start of holy month of Ramadan.

Farmaajo acknowledged the importance of the holy month to Muslims around the world as special time of both sacrifice and purification and called on Somalis to remain steadfast.

“This holy month symbolizes humility, sacrifice and above all, an embodiment of unity amongst all of us,” said the president.

He reminded them to renew their commitment to obey and serve God and be compassionate to the needy.

President Farmaajo returned to the country after concluding a several-day working visit to the State of Qatar.

Muslims worldwide started their month of fasting on 27th May 2017.

Fasting the month of Ramadan is also one of the five pillars of Islam.

Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab militants used to step up attacks in the Somali capital Mogadishu and other towns during the holy month of Ramadan thus Somali security officials urged the public to cooperate with security agencies to ensure peace prevails.
