Prominent Somali trader killed in South Africa

GOOBJOOG NEWS|SOUTH AFRICA: A prominent Somali trader was killed Monday South Africa in a growing trend of murders targeting Somali business community in the country.

The deceased is said to have met his death in a shooting incident that took place at Retreat, about 36km from the Somali neighborhood of Bellville in Cape Town, and was carried out by gunmen who allegedly entered the store he was in.

The deceased was identified as Abdullahi Hassan Mohamed Hilowle, a Somali businessman who reportedly owns a large business in the country. Witness reports indicate that they heard gunfire shortly after the group entered the store, firing several shots at the Somali national.

Security forces are said to have arrived at the scene of murder and launched investigations, but no arrests have been made so far in connection with the killing of the Somali businessman.
