Public Works minister Abbas Siraj gunned down near presidential palace

Public Works and Reconstruction Minister Abbas Abdullahi Sheikh has been shot dead at the entrance of Villa Somalia.

The circumstances surrounding his killing are not clear year.

Abbas took office April 3 this year and was the youngest cabinet minister in the current administration. From humble backgrounds as a refugee at Daadaab camp in Kenya, Abbas was elected during the 2016/17 elections as MP and appointed by Prime Minister Hassan Khaire in March.

Abbas was born in 1986 in Bay region and spent most of his life at Daadaab camp. He acquired a degree in Computer Science from the University of Nairobi.
