Puntland interim electoral team picks leadership

GOOBJOOG NEWS|GAROWE: Puntland’s interim elections team (SIET) has appointed chairman and vice-chair becoming the third Federal Member State to complete the composition of its electoral team.

Abdikarim Muse Maxamuud garnered all the 11 votes to become chairman while Innanshe Yusuf Hussein was elected vice-chairman with similar votes. There were no other contestants.

Puntland now joins Galmudug and South West which have since completed the process. The Federal Indirect Elections Team (FIET) has also elected its leadership.

Somaliland caucus, HirShabelle and Jubbaland are yet to complete the process. After the completion of the SIET and FIET composition, next will be the selection of the 27,775 delegates who will elect MPs.

The selection process will run from July 15 to August 10. Meanwhile, the Federal Member State parliaments will converge on July 27 to elect Senators.
