Puntland parliament speaker quits office

Puntland parliament speaker Saeed Hassan Shire has resigned from post on Monday after political fallout embarked between the speaker and members of the house.

“I hereby confirm that I have resigned from my duties as the speaker of the parliament”

The resignation was announced during a press briefing at his residential house in Garowe, the administrative capital of Puntland state.

Stating that he has rift with the regional parliamentarians, he said “I decided to quit the office in order to ease the political tension erupted in the house”
Reliable sources say that the motion against the speaker has been underway.
