Puntland president invites his regional counterparts to the 2nd CIC meeting

Regional state presidents in October 11th 2017 announcing the formation of a Council of Presidents in Kismayo headed by Puntland president Abdiweli Gaas and deputized by HirShabelle’s Mohamed Waare.

Putland state president Dr. Abdiweli Ali Gaas yesterday called his federal regional counterparts for a second meeting under the Council for Intergovernmental Cooperation (CIC) to be held in Garowe, Putnland state capital on 20th March as stated in an official letter released from Dr. Gaas state presidential office.

Dr. Gaas who is the chairperson of CIC body invited HirShabelle, Galmudug, Southwest and Jubbaland state presidents for the 2nd conference to be held by the body since its inception.

According to the statement, the objective of the meeting is to put focus on several matters pertinent to the developments of the federal member states ranging from the interests of the regional governments in particular and that of the country in general among others though they were not further explained in details.

“I am honored to announce after consultation the 2nd Council for Intergovernmental Cooperation council meeting to be held in Garowe, Puntland on the 20th March to focus on the exclusive interests of the federal member states and the general ones for the country” read the statement.

The ICC was formed by the regional federal member states in mid October in Kismayo, Jubbaland.

The federal regional presidents are currently in Mogadishu for the Somali National Security Council conference.
