GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Galmudug President Ahmed Qoorqoor and his Puntland counterpart Abdullahi Deni resolved their differences Monday night following mediation from leaders from both sides.

Senators from Galmudug and Puntland brought the two leaders together Monday night where they agreed to resolve their disputes, sources close to the talks told Goobjoog News.

The two leaders have had cold relations in recent months as a result of their divergent political views. Qoorqoor is allied to Villa Somalia which was instrumental in his election in 2019 while Deni is at odds with the Villa.

Deni lambasted Qoorqoor last month in a wide-ranging attack at outgoing president Mohamed Farmaajo. In his attack, Deni accused his Galmudug counterpart and Farmaajo of frustrating efforts to reach a political deal on the ongoing electoral stalemate,

Sources said Qoorqoor had been bitter about the remarks but Senators from the two neighbouring states have been working to resolve the dispute.
