Qoorqoor, Lafta-gareen lead mediation between Roble and Farmaajo amid grandstanding

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: South West president Abdiasis Lafta Gareen and his Galmudug counterpart Ahmed Qoorqoor are leading mediation efforts to resolve the stalemate between the outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and the Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
Last night, Qoor Qoor and Lafta-gareen held their first talks with the Prime Minister, with credible sources saying that no tangible solutions were reached at.
The duo also met with the outgoing President, Mohamed Farmajo thereafter but no details are yet available.
The Prime Minister is said to be stuck on his previous position of sacking the National Intelligence Security Agency (NISA) Director, Fahad Yassin, and appointing Bashir Goobe as NISA commander; a decision fiercely opposed by Farmajo who in defiance, fronted his own man Col. Abdullahi Mohamud who has since taken the mantle at NISA.
Roble is also said to stamp his authority on the appointment of Abdullahi Mohamed Nur as Security Minister, and wants the Ikran Tahliil case to be investigated by the military court with those found culpable being brought to justice. Farmajo is said to hold the opinion that the investigation on the Ikran case be investigated and the family paid ransom when the culprits are caught. .
Farmajo also opposed the dismissal of Security Minister, Hassan Hundubey Jimale and the appointment of Abdullahi Mohamed Nur by the Prime Minister saying that the PM acted contrary to the constitution terming the appointments as ‘illegal and unconstitutional’.
