The Kenya’s opposition coalition (CORD) leader Raila Odinga has demanded the Kenyan government to reveal the number of Kenyan soldiers killed since the beginning of the military operation against Al-Shabaab in Somalia three years ago.

Speaking during an Iftar dinner hosted by Muslim politicians Raila said “KDF soldiers are dying in Somalia. We only see coffins arriving in Kenya each day but they have not revealed the number of our fallen soldiers to date”.

The opposition leaders have in recent weeks been asking for the government recall the soldiers in the wake of terrorist attacks in parts of the Coast, Nairobi and northern Kenya.

Mr Odinga has also challenged the government to arrest him and other Opposition politicians if it had evidence linking them to the recent Lamu and Tana River attacks in which 87 people have died.

Raila also alleged that the Jubilee Government does not safeguard the rights of Muslims and claimed there is a plot to silence all vocal Muslim politicians by arresting them. He urged Muslims to rally behind Cord.
