RAINS SPOT-CHECK: Exams postponed as rains hit Mogadishu and environs

The Ministry of Education announced Sunday exams meant for today would be postponed because of rains experienced in the capital Mogadishu and other parts of the country.

Education minister Abdirhaman Osman said today’s papers-Chemistry and English would be scheduled for tomorrow if the weather conditions permit. The ministry had earlier noted students in Beletweyne would sit for their exams later since the region has been adversely by floods.

Goobjoog News correspondents in South and Central regions of the country this morning conducted spot check to establish the regions which experienced rains Saturday night.

Banaadir region which includes the capital Mogadishu experienced heavy rains flooding major roads and forcing residents to find alternative means of transport.

Afgooye and Jowhar towns in Lower and Middle Shabelle regions experienced heavy rains through Saturday night.

Our correspondents in Galmudug, Bay and Bakool regions reported no instances of rains Saturday.

Light showers were reported in Kismayu, Lower Jubba region while the south westerly region of Gedo did not experienced any rains.
