Relief for stranded Somalis as government suspends flights ban

Somalis stranded in the region following the 15 days flight ban have got relief Saturday after the government announced a two days window period to allow them to come in.

The Ministry of Transport announced Saturday it would ease the restrictions to allow those intending to return to the country make way. Several Somalis got stranded in Kenya, Ethiopia, the Gulf and even Hargeisa in Somaliland after the government ordered the closure of airports for international flights.

The Ministry said the ease will only last for two days upon which the ban will resume as the Horn of African nation seeks to tame any further import of the novel corona virus. All learning institutions in the country remain closed for a period of 15 days starting this past week.

The government also urged those coming in to observe all the health directives issued by the government regarding the spread of corona virus.
