Robbery suspects nabbed in Bosaso, knives, phones recovered

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BOSASO: Police in Bosaso in Puntland’s Bari region has arrested several young men suspected to be behind a string of robberies in the coastal city.

Bari Regional police commander Hussein Ali Mohamud told the media that the suspects were arrested in collaboration with members of the public who tipped off the police. He added that the suspected with be charged with robbery with violence.

According to the police commandant, the suspects have been involved in forcefully robbing people of mobile phones among other personal effects.

Several mobile phones and knives were displayed by the police following the arrests. Sources said the gang has subjected its victims to serious bodily harm with some forced to seek treatment in Mogadishu or cross to Ethiopia.
