Rogue police officer who killed elderly trader over 0.2 US dollar tax arrested

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Police have apprehended a police tax collector who shot dead an elderly businessman for failing to raise government tax amounting to a mere two thousand Somali shillings (0.2 US dollars).

 According to witnesses, the police officer shot Abubakar Mohamed Nourani, a small-scale 65-year-old trader of Mogadishu’s Hamarweyne district, on Tuesday after he requested to pay the money at a later date as he was in no position to pay the amount at the time.

The rogue officer was however quickly apprehended after committing the brutal act, with police spokesman Sadiq Adan Ali stating that he would face murder charges at the Banadir Regional Court in the coming days.
