Security of Baidoa tightened ahead National consultative Forum

Somali police have beefed up security across Baidoa town for the planned National consultative conference scheduled to kick off on 25th this month.

Hundreds of soldiers from Somali government have been deployed across the city a day after a delegation led by the speaker of Somali parliament.

Police told reporters that they are following the developments of the operations closely and urged the security authorities to be on high alert.

‘’ We will tighten our security and foil any attempts or threats from Al-Shabaab. The people should work so close with the government and security forces on this issue,’’ said a police officer who declined his name.

The police have been checking people and vehicle movements to thwart further Al-Shabaab onslaughts amid more troops have been deployed in Baidoa town to carry out anti-terror operations.

Troops searched vehicles entering the town and increased the number of checkpoints in the town along with foot patrols, according to police officials.
