Senate picks 5 members to Joint Constitutional Review Committee

GOOBJOOG NEWS: The Senate has elected five senators who will seat in the Joint Parliamentary Constitutional Review Committee.

The committee of five will now join an equal number of their counterparts from the Lower House in the parliamentary committee tasked with overseeing the review process which is headed by the Independent Constitutional Review Commission (ICRIC).

The Constitutional Review process has been long coming since the Provisional Constitution was adopted by parliament in 2012. Subsequent administrations have since failed to complete the process.

The Joint Committee members from the senate are as follows:

1. Mohamed Hassan Idris

2. Happy Mumin Ali

3. Burhan Adan Omar

4. Ahmed Mohamud Jama

5. Mohamed Abdullah Saleh
