Senate first deputy speaker Abshir Ahmad Saturday unveiled the first public library in Adado District, Galmudug state aimed at providing opportunities for young people to access books.

Adado Public Library, which is the brainchild of the Senator opened its doors in Adado town. Equipped with a range of books, the library is expected to attract students and book lovers from across the region.

Speaking during the launch, Senator Ahmad urged locals to make good use of the library and protect it to ensure it benefits generations to come.

“Adado Public Library is the first public service we are offering to the district. It belongs to the people of this district and not mine,” the Senator said. “I urge people of this region to protect it so that they can advance their knowledge and have a better future.”

Senator Ahmad likened the library to a bank deposit noting, “As we deposit money in banks to save, we also deposit books in the libraries to save knowledge.”

The launch of the library which coincides with the International Youth Day marked today echoes this year’s theme which is Safe Space for Youth.
