#SomaliaElections2021: Senator Zamzam Ali retains Senate seat in South West state

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BAIDOA: Zamzam Ali has been elected the first senator in South West today after she trounced her rival Shariifo Osman by a wide margin.
The senator-elect got 81 votes out of the possible 92 while Osman was given only four votes. The elections committee declared seven votes as invalid. Senator-elect Ali served as the deputy chairperson of the Women Caucus in the Senate during the 2016-2021 period.
She now joins four other senators who were elected in Jubbaland last Thursday. MPs are currently voting for the remaining four seats.
