Six die as RPG hits minibus outside Qoryooley

At least six civilians have been killed in the outskirt of Qoryooley, an agricultural town
in Southern Somalia after troops African Union Mission in Somalia’s (AMISOM) hit their minibus with rocket-propelled grenade RPG, residents said.

A driver in Qoryooley town who spoke to Goobjoog News said that the minibus which was carrying vegetable was heading to Mogadishu during the attack.

“The minibus which was transporting vegetable was carrying six passengers and all of them died on the spot,” said one of the drivers in the town who sought anonymity.

amMeanwhile, on its Twitter account, AMISOM said that at 1130 last night its defensive position in Qoyroole came under Al-Shabaab shelling with some mortar’s landing in civilian populated areas.

 

“Al-Shabaab continues to indiscriminately shell innocent civilians which must be condemned. The SNA and AMISOM forces are determined to defeat Al-Shabaab and bring to an end innocent Somalis’ harassment & suffering by terrorists,” said AMISOM.

The AU body noted that there have been some incidents of Al-Shabaab attacking AMISOM and moving explosives in the night prompting a ban on movement at night in the area.

In the past, there have been incidents of AMISOM where several civilians lost their lives.
