Six MPs elected in Beletweyne

GOOBJOOG NEWS/BELETWEYNE: Hirshabelle State Elections Implementation Team held Sunday, elections for six seats in the Lower House of Parliament in Beletweyne.

The first seat, HOP#86 previously held by Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir who is on medical leave abroad was won by ex-spy chief and current National Security Adviser to the outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, Fahad Yasin Haji Dahir.

Fahad Yasin received 70 votes while his rival, General Ahmed Dayib Ahmed received 24 votes.

The second seat was won by the Deputy Minister of Women’s Affairs Hiis Hassan Aden, retaining her seat, HOP#015 after she received 92 votes from the delegates present. Her rival contender, Maryan Hassan Abdi, withdrew from the race. 

The third seat, HOP#008 previously held by Dr. Hussein Abdi Elmi, was won by Mohamed Deek Barre Omar (Fiyoore) of the Mogadishu Media Group after he  received 89 votes. His fellow contestant, Ibrahim Ahmed Inji, resigned from the seat.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohamed Abdullahi Hassan Nuh, defended his seat, HOP#274 after receiving 78 votes while Fardowso Hassan Ismail withdrew from the race.

The Deputy Minister of Defense Abdifatah Qasim Mohamud also retained his seat, HOP#109 after receiving 92 votes by show of hands. His rival, Hamdi Mohamed Muse, resigned from the race.

Abdikarim Omar Hussein won the sixth seat, HOP#074 which was previously held by former Deputy Minister of Defense Abdullahi Olad Roble. Hussein was voted in by 98 delegates while his rival contender, Abdishakur Abdullahi Ahmed withdrew from contesting for the seat.
