GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: A military court in Mogadishu has slapped six police officers with jail terms of between two and five years for the murder of Hodan district commissioner Abdihakim Dhagajuun in January this year.

The court held that the five officers were responsible for killing Dhagajuun in the wee hours of January 21. According to Somali police, the deceased was sprayed with bullets in a junction between Howlwadag and Warta Nabada district in Mogadishu at about 1 am on the material day.

The court sitting in Mogadishu established that Holwadag police commanding station Colonel Shuaib Abdi Mohamed issued orders to his juniors to kill the decease. He was jailed for five years alongside another officer Bashir Ahmed Abdi who has been on the run.

The court also sentenced Jamal Isaq Ali, Dhiblawe Ibrahim Yusuf, Farah Sabriye Afrah and Kulmi Kariye Ali, all members of the Somali Police Force, to two years in prison each. The prosecution had earlier in the case indicated that Dhagajuun was killed ‘intentionally’.
