SNA arrests three Al-Shabaab militants in southern Somalia

GOOBJOOG NEWS/BAIDOA: It was the end of the road for 3 Al-Shabaab fighters after the Somali National Army’s (SNA) special forces arrested them in  crackdown on the group in southern Somalia.

Speaking to state-run Radio Mogadishu, SNA officials said that the militants did not stage any resistance when sleuths pounced on them during an operation to flush out the terrorists who had for several months unleashed terror on Barire and its surroundings.

SNA officials identified the three as Abdifitah Mohamed, Osman Omar and Adan Moalim, were charged with extortion and bomb attacks in the region.

The officials further said that their case will be handled by the military court due to the sensitivity of the matter. 

SNA has scaled up military operations in several parts of the country, amid escalating attacks by Al-Shabaab militants on southern and central Somalia, especially now that the country is going through a fragile electoral process.
