GOOBJOOG NEWS|KISMAYO: 14 Al-Shabaab terrorists were killed in an operation carried out by the Somali National Army on Friday in Janale, a rich agricultural area in the Lower Shabelle, State Media has confirmed.

Among those killed was Mohamed Nur Shire, a leader of the militant group for the Lower Shabelle region.

Security forces said the killing of the terrorists came at a critical time as they were able to foil a terror attack plan by the group against the people in the Janale area.

The killing of the Lower Shabelle Al-Shabaab leader comes a week after another core leader, Abdullahi Nadir, who had a $3 million bounty on his head, was killed in an operation conducted by the SNA and international security partners in Haramka village in the Middle Juba region.
