SNA kills 10 Al-Shabaab members, captures 6 others

GOOBJOOG NEWS/KISMAYO: A joint operation by the Somali National Army and Jubaland Forces to flush out members of Al-Shabaab in parts of the Lower Juba region in southern Somalia was carried out on Wednesday.

According to military officials, the operation targeted Al-Shabaab strongholds on the outskirts of Jamame district where the group’s fighters staged stiff resistance, resulting in casualties on their side.

The  officials further said that the operation killed at least 10 Al-Shabaab members and captured six others, pledging to continue carrying out operations to bring an end to the group’s terror activities. 

Al-Shabaab has not yet commented on the fighting, which the Somali federal government has claimed victory over.
