SNA kills senior Al-Shabaab official in Lower Shabelle

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MUBARAK: The Federal Government of Somalia has issued a statement stating that Somali National Army elite forces conducted a special operation Friday in Al-Shabaab-controlled Mubarak, an area in the Lower Shabelle region, targeting members of the terrorist group.

The statement confirmed that the operation killed an Al-Shabaab senior official identified as ‘Arab’, and wounded “nearly a dozen others”, including a member identified as’ Osman Daud, who was the most senior Al-Shabaab member in Mubarak and Aw Maay, responsible for extorting money from civilians in the area.

The statement added that the operation was also successful in freeing civilians who had been imprisoned by the terrorists.

Meanwhile, SNA officers who spoke to State Media said the unrelenting pursuit of members of the terrorist organization also led them to the farmlands and villages between Bal’ad and Afgoye districts, where they killed several Al-Shabaab fighters and destroyed sham courts used by the group to extort money from civilians.
