SNA lost a soldier after trying to intervene to end the conflict in Baladweyn

Somali Natinal Army has reportedly lost one soldier during an attempt to calm the situation and hostility between brotherly clan militias who clashed in Baladweyne days ago.
SNA soldiers together with African Union (AMISOM) troops from Djibouti and Ethiopia have successfully intervened to quell a deadly inter-clan confrontation in the town
Preliminary ceasefire has taken an effect this morning after deadly clash between clan militias.
Traditional elders and clerics stood to mediate sides engaged clashes which claimed lives of over fifteen people and injured more than 30 others for last the last three four days.
Following joint mediation efforts by respected elders from sides, ceasefire and withdrawal of forces from the frontline bases brought into agreement.
Traditional clan elders, led by Ugas Abdurahman Ugas Khalif, were also reported have mediated between the warring sides and convinced them cease fire.
Talks between the two the sides are expected to follow the ceasefire in the presence of the traditional elders and delegates from federal government in quest to end the tension.
Meanwhile Federal Government of Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has strongly condemned renewed hostility in central Beledweyne town.
The President called on warring clans to right away abandon conflict, threatening responsible figures with accountability.
“Clan clashes must end and those who are involved should know that they will be held accountable,” Mohamud warned.
On Tuesday a high-level delegation, which includes Galmudug president Abdikarim Guled and five ministers reached in Beledweyne city on a mission to end the inter-clan fighting at Howlwadag village.
The internal security minister of Somalia Abdirisak Omar Mohamed is part of the delegation reached Beledweyne.
