SNA troops drive out Khawarij militants from Whabo town, ending a 15-year siege

GOOBJOOG NEWS/|GALGADUD: The Somali National Army and local militias drove Khawarij militants out of Wabho village in Galgadud region today, bringing a 15-year siege to an end.

Speaking to the State National News Agency (SONNA), Defense Ministry Spokesperson Abdullahi Ali Anod said the army successfully liberated Warhole, Elbore, and Elgorof villages, all located in Galgadud, in the last 24 hours.

The spokeswoman added that the army also undertook mine clearance activities in Wara-Gibile, Elgorof, Wara-Dhumale, Elbur, Guriel, and Bukur villages in the region of Hiiraan.

Operations against the “deviant sect” are currently ongoing, with the Defense Spokesman saying the army has succeeded in liberating 250 km of land previously under the grip of the terrorist group.

The army is now gearing up for another operation to be carried out in neighboring Elbur, a key hub for the Khawarij militants.
