Somali Cabinet Meet Over Central Hotel Attack

Top Somali Government officials took emergence meeting in presidential palace chaired by Somali president Hassan Sheikh have strongly condemned Friday’s attack on the Central Hotel in Mogadishu, which was claimed by Al-Shabaab.

At least 25 people including five Somali government officials have been killed while 37 others have sustained injuries including 24 seriously wounded as a car bomber smashed into the gate of Central Hotel followed a suicide bomber who blew himself up inside the hotel on Friday.

Deputy governor for political affairs of Benadir region, Mohamed Adan Guleed aka Aane-geel and MP Omar Ali Nor aliases Furdug Mahmud Du’ale muse and 18 others were killed in the attacks which their responsibility was claimed by Al-Shabab fighters who gave interview to Reuters few minutes after the incident.

The Meeting also issued:

  1. To condemn Friday’s attack on the Central Hotel in Mogadishu.
  2. To offer their sincere condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives as a result of this attack.
  3. The formation of a ministerial committee to follow up the situation.
  4. The form a security committee to investigate the act.
