Somali Federal Government: 240 Alshabab fighters killed in Halgan attack

Somali security minister Abdirzaq Omar Mohammed said joint troops killed more than 240 Alshabab fighters in Halgan attack.

Hundreds of Alshabab militants tried to storm an Ethiopian military base in Halgan village, some 175km to north of Somali capital Mogadishu.

“From the mouth of Somali military commander and the governor of Hiran region 240 Alshabab terrorist killed in today’s Halgan fight” said Minister Abdirzaq Omar Mohammed

AMISOM said they have killed 120 Alshabab fighters in attack and captured assortments of weapons

Earlier the commissioner of Halgan village Guhad Abdi warsme, in an interview with Goobjoog Radio said he counted the dead bodies of at least 197 Alshabab fighters. “We have killed dozens of Alshabab militants; I have personally counted 197 bodies.” Said halgan

Alshabab fighters in their side claimed to have killed more than 60 soldiers in the attack.

Three civilians killed in attack and at least ten others wounded.
