Somali Federal Parliament drops the agenda judicial Service Commission approval

Somali Federal Parliament  meeting today chaired by the Speaker Mohamed Osman Jawari and attended by 142 unanimously dropped the agenda the  proceedings of judicial service commission approval.

Article 109A of the Provisional Constitution establishes a Judicial Service Commission, comprised of nine (9) members, which shall be members from the judiciary, members from the Law Society, the Human Rights Commissioner; and individuals with high reputation within the Somali society.

The Somali cabinet has only presented the list of five members for approval which prompt members of the Parliament to raise questions about the legality of the move and then asked the chair to drop the judicial service commission proceedings from the agenda.

Somali cabinet is expected to retable the commission as soon as it meets the conditions of parliament.
