Somali government, European Union discuss election issues

GOOBJOOG NEWS/MOGADISHU: Somali Minister of Internal Security in the Government of Communications Abdullahi Mohamed Nur and EU Ambassador to Somalia Tiina Intelmann co-chaired a conference on electoral issues attended by EU ambassadors.

The conference, which took place at the EU headquarters in Somalia and graced by some EU ambassadors, dwelt on the security of the country’s elections. 

The Internal Minister of Security, Abdullahi Mohamed Nur thanked the European Union for the continued support it has extended to the Government and the people of Somalia, and urged the body to continue  supporting the country especially now that it’s going through a tough election process.

The EU ambassadors called on the federal and regional governments to expedite the electoral process and complete elections within the agreed timeline.

The Ambassadors also commended the various security agencies and pledged continued support to the Somali Government and its people, especially in matters concerning security.
