Somali government hails the death of Al-shabab leader

Somali prime minster Abdiweli  Sheikh Ahmed welcomed the death of Al-shabab leader Ahmed Abdi Gonde calling it a huge achievements for the Somalia people.

Somali prime minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed stated that the death of Al-shabab leader is due to collaboration and intelligence sharing between the governments of Somalia  and US .

The prime minster described the death of Godane as a disheartening message to Al- Shabab group and called Al-Shabab members to take advantage the amnesty offered by Somali government this week, he threatened that his government will bring before the justice anyone  who ignores the call.

Washington confirmed that its drones targeted Godane’s convoy in Lower Shebelle region on Monday, Pentagon press secretary Rear Admiral John Kirby said.

He called Godane’s death “a major symbolic and operational loss” to AShabaab.

Godone was nominated as Al-Shabab leader 2008 after death of Adam Ayrow who was killed in Dusamareeb Galgadud headquarters by the US missile.
