Kenyan media reports on NISA ‘false and misleading’- Somali Govt’

Somali government has dismissed as ‘false and misleading’ reports appearing in sections of the Kenyan media linking the National  Security and Intelligence Agency (NISA)  to the militant group Al-Shabaab.

“The Federal Government of Somalia rejects this type of rancorous attacks, and smear campaigns targeting the government and its agencies. NISA is committed to the war against Al -Shabaab and takes offence to the disparaging news that is circulating throughout social media in an attempt to demean the agency,” a statement from the Ministry of Information read in part.

The government also urged media outlets in the country to refrain from republishing the reports.   The Standard   and   The Star   separately  published reports  Friday claiming senior NISA officials were sharing information with the militant group Al-Shabaab.
