Somali Intelligence kills 17 Al-Shabaab terrorists in Middle Shabelle

GOOBJOOG NEWS|HAWADLEY: A new operation carried out by the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), backed by international partners, killed 17 Al-Shaabab terrorists in the Middle Shabelle region.

A statement by the Ministry of Information said the operation took place in the small town of Hawadley, 30 kilometers north-east of the capital Mogadishu, on Tuesday night.

The statement added that the operation targeted Al-Shabaab terrorists who were gathered in an area under Hawadley, killing them, including several senior members of the armed group.

“The Somali military continues its operations against the terrorists with the support of locals and 150 terrorists have been killed in recent operations,” the ministry said.

Operations against the terror group have been ongoing in the central region of Somalia, including the Middle Shabelle and Hiran regions, with major security gains having been achieved so far.
