Somali Investment Forum Due to Kick Off in Nairobi

Shuraako, the US Embassy and World Bank Group are co-hosting the Somali Investment Forum which will kick off tomorrow in Nairobi the capital city of Kenya.

The two and half day event will convene entrepreneurs, investors, sector experts, business development experts and other stakeholders – all of whom are focused on Somalia – to discuss Somali investing and to make investment deals.
Forum Highlights:
• Dozens of Somali-based businesses will pitch directly to investors with pledged capital
• Shuraako has secured pledged investment capital which will act as a matching fund for local financial institutions, diaspora investors, impact funds, and others. SIF pledged investment capital commitments could well exceed $1million (USD)
• Trade Show open to Somali-based businesses and business support services to advertise their products and services, and network with key players
• Shuraako and the One Earth Future Foundation have published two reports in conjunction with the SIF. Powering Progress: The Potential of Renewable Energy in Somalia and Building a Business Ecosystem in Somalia: The Case for Business Associations
