Somali Military Court passes death and prison sentences

The Somali Military Court today Wednesday passed a verdict on death and life imprisonment on three suspects that were in remand in Baidoa town in Southwest State.

The suspects were accused of a murder case a week ago in a mosque in Baidoa town where a local Islamic scholar known as Sheikh Madeer Sheikh Madgab was killed. The deceased was one of the delegates that selected members of the National Parliament.

The Chief of the First Degree Military Court Major Hassan Ali Noor “Shuute” announced the judgment.

The suspects were sentenced in the following ways:-

  1. Mohamed Adan Ali Borow –Death sentence
  2. Somow Ali Adan Ilka Ase – Life imprisonment
  3. Hassan ali Abdullahi Ibrahim – Life imprisonment

The Military Court has several times passed judgments on suspects alleged to be members of Alshabab as well as government soldiers who committed murder on innocent citizens.
