Somali military court sentences soldiers to death for murder and rape

Somali military court has on Tuesday sentenced to death government soldiers who were earlier accused of murder and rape.

The spokesman of Somali military court Abdullahi muse Keyse said that the two men were sentenced to death after found guilty of murdering Abdifatah Jama’a and raping a nine old lady Ifrah Ahmed.

The spokesman stated that the convicted soldiers can still take appeal if they are not satisfied with the verdict.

Somali military court has carried several executions of government soldiers and Al-shabab members in a firing squad, before month the court has executed at least six Al-shabab members including the man planned presidential palace.

Government soldiers are often accused of acting with impunity, including killing and raping.

This verdict comes a time when the military court has vowed to take action against the government soldiers who set illegal checkpoints in the roads linking the capital to the neirbouring regions.
