Somali National Army kills 5 Al-Shabab in lower Shabelle region

At least five Al-Shabab militants were killed in a military operation carried out by the Somali National Army at Qoryoley district in Lower Shabelle region.

According to one of the military officials, General Mohamed Dirir, A prominent Al-Shabab officer Identified as Abdi Muhsin Sheikh Hussein (Abu Bakr) was also killed in the operation.

The country’s armed forces have increased attacks and operations against Al-Shabab fighters since the last year in the Middle and Lower Shabelle regions.

There are no reports from Al-Shabab in response to the government’s claim concerning the killing incident in Lower Shabelle region.
