Somali police chief holds talks with Turkish counterparts

GOOBJOOG NEWS|ANKARA: Somali Police Chief, Abdi Hassan Hijar held talks with Turkish top security commanders including the head of Emergency Operations Force, and the Chief of the Police Academy in Ankara, Turkey. They discussed the cooperation between the two services and strengthening Turkey’s support to the Somali police.

The Turkish government has been a key security partner of Somalia against Al-Shabaab militants through training and provision of equipment. Turkey also trains both the elite Gorgor soldiers and Harama’ad police officers.

Somalia and Turkey celebrated ten years of re-established relations last week promising unrelenting support to the country’s security organs as the country goes through a transition period.
